Ronald P. Schneider
About Ron

As a litigator since 1974, cases handled have included personal injury cases such as automobile/pedestrian/motorcycle and bicycle accidents, premises liability including slip/trip and fall cases, as well as, more complex and diverse injury situations such as medical negligence, legal negligence, product liability litigation and insurance bad faith.

Ron represented approximately 500 individuals in mass tort litigation over a time period of 20 years relating to the Dalkon Shield Intrauterine Device. Cases resulted in recoveries to clients reaching 7 figures and an extremely large number of 6-figure settlements.

Trial, arbitration and/or settlement results other than Dalkon Shield matters have included:

  • Bicycle/automobile accident in the Richmond District of San Francisco with a recovery of $2,250,000.
  • Automobile/pedestrian wrongful death case in the Mission District of San Francisco settled for $1,000,000.
  • Automobile/pedestrian leg injury case while changing a tire on Highway 280 in San Mateo County resolved with policy limits payments plus significant contribution of personal assets by the defendant totaling $1,805,000.
  • East Bay accident whereby plaintiff's uninsured motorist's carrier failed to pay $250,000 policy limits that resulted in a binding arbitration award of $516,000 (plaintiff's uninsured motorist carrier paid six figures in the subsequent bad faith case to plaintiff also).

In the couple of years just before the pandemic started in 2020, more recent cases that the office has litigated and resolved include:

  • A small underlying policy limit immediate payment of $15,000 followed up by payment of the remaining $485,000 underinsured policy for a woman with seriously contested emotional injuries as a result of an automobile accident.
  • An extremely sensitive case by the nephew of the defendant whereby the plaintiff claimed negligence of his uncle in allowing the plaintiff to operate the store’s meat grinder. The injuries to the finger and thumb of the plaintiff resulted in a $750,000 settlement.
  • Obtaining a $500,000 policy limit recovery for a client with wrist fractures as a result of a negligent defendant driver who turned in front of our client’s motorcycle causing his injuries.
  • A 17-year-old passenger client was injured when his friend negligently drove his car into a tree in Santa Cruz County. The plaintiff ended up with multiple facial fractures whereby he collected the defendant’s $1,000,000 policy limit.
  • A most tragic wrongful death case of a teenager in San Francisco resulted in a cash payment of policy limits plus a highly unusual complex settlement with the defendant driver to be paid in the future to the parents of the deceased.

Even with the pandemic, Ron has continued to produce numerous 5 and 6-figure settlements on a variety of personal injury matters that include slip/trip and fall cases and automobile accidents in this past year alone. Other cases involving products liability, medical negligence, legal negligence, insurance bad faith, and other premises liability cases, as well as, assaults at sporting events such as professional baseball and basketball venues have been litigated by the Law Offices of Ronald P. Schneider.
